biography
Born in Hue in 1981, Tran Tuan graduated from Hue College of Art with a degree in Traditional Decoration in 2006. His art practice has been greatly influenced by the untold stories of his family.
Tuan has participated in various international events, such as : the group exhibition ‘Mien Meo Mieng’ - Bildmuseet Contemporary Art Museum, Sweden - 2015; Singapore Biennale – 2014 (for his series ‘Two Forefingers’); he aslo held numerous notable local exhibitions including: ‘First Lesson’ – 2018; ‘Emperor Mushroom’ – 2013; , ‘Altered Clouds’ – 2012; ‘Nang Bong Nhe Tech’ – 2011,…
He has also actively contributed to promoting art to a wider community. He opened Then Studio in 2012 in Hue where many art activities take place. It later became a familiar meeting spot for young artists, architects, musicians as well as young people in town. In 2017, Tuan launched Lang Art Dorm - an art residency program in Hue that aims to bridge the exchange between local and international artists.
